North Carolina's Crystal Coast Climate

Not crazy about icy cold winters and unbearably hot summers?  Have you thought about the coast of North Carolina??

The North Carolina coast provides a moderate climate for year-round vacationing.  Water and air temperatures are generally mild with the average water temperature in January higher than along the coast in Maine in July.  Mid-summer water temperature is around 80° F down the entire coast allowing people to enjoy every water-sport imaginable. Behind the barrier islands, lies the Bogue Sound and Inter-coastal Waterway. This inland waterway is protected, calm, quiet and sheltered from strong sea breezes and bordered by cool forests and marshlands with unique vegetation and wildlife.

The Gulf Stream has a direct effect on North Carolina’s temperatures, especially on the coast. Winter air temperatures are warmer than expected due to the Gulf Streams warm-water eddies.
