The legendary Southern hospitality began in 1962 when Mildred Batten Simmons and her husband Clarence moved to Emerald Isle to pursue their love of salt water fishing.  Other friends from home bought neighboring cottages and gave the keys to Mildred to look after things.  Mildred began renting their cottages to other friends and became famous for her big smile, her love of good conversations and for going out of her way to make every guest feel at home.

Over 45 years later, guests tell us that we are still famous for the smiling welcome they receive and our attention to the smallest details that ensure a comfortable, relaxing stay in our elegant seaside condos and homes.  We like to say “we’re bringing barefoot back” as we encourage our beach guests to adopt our casual island lifestyle.  Proud of our outstanding reputation for being the classic choice on the Carolina coast, Emerald Isle Realty is always highly selective when choosing a partnership.  The Emerald Isle Realty staff is eagerly anticipating the grand opening this summer of the beautiful reception area and on-site rental office.  We’ll be offering those warm, welcoming smiles to Grande Villas homeowners and rental guests arriving for a peaceful oceanfront getaway filled with the unique coastal charms this destination has to offer.  Be sure to drop in and visit…bare feet optional!
