It's still a small town...
Come join us every Friday evening to catch a family orientated film in Emerald Isle. The Emerald Isle Friday Free Flicks continue in 2008 with the first offering on January 11. The movie will be Evan Almighty, and will be at the Parks and Recreation Gym near Town Hall. Showtime is at 7PM, and admission is free. Read More

How did Salter Path get it's name?
Salter Path is located in the middle of Bogue Banks right next to Indian Beach and was named for a worn path from the beach to the sound beside Riley Salter's house. In the late 1800's, fisherman carried barrels of salted mullet to the sound to trade corn, sweet potatoes, and staples with a boat from Hyde County. Portions of this path can still be seen today! Many of the descendants of the original settlers still reside in Salter Path and fish the waters there daily selling the seafood to local fish markets and restaurants. Read More
