Upcoming July Events Onboard Collection Cruise All aboard for a trawl and dredge excursion in coastal waters, and see what comes up in our nets. This event is for ages 6 & up and the cost is $25. Summer Tennis Clinics with Tony Pereira Join us at the Emerald Isle Community Center for Summer Tennis Clinics with Tony Pereira! Tennis Clinics take place each Tuesday beginning June 23 from 8:00 – 9:00 am. The tennis clinics are $5 for Community Center members and $10 for non-members. Summer Tennis is for ages 14 – Adult. Morehead City Parks and Recreation Summer Concerts The Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department and Chair and Equipment Rentals will sponsor a summer long concert series beginning Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. Headquartered at the downtown Beaufort Docks, is a billfish release-only event with Tuna, Wahoo, Dolphin and King Mackerel Gamefish Divisions including a Jr. Angler Division for ages 16 years or younger. In addition to fishing, the world's greatest marine artists are on hand to display their artwork. Some pieces are even available at auction! All the money raised for this event goes to the Boys & Girls Club of Coastal Carolina. For more information please call Cynthia Barber at 252-808-2286. While at the billfish tournament, be sure to stop by the Art & Kids Fair taking place in Beaufort in conjunction with the tournament. Beach Jive After Five Summer Concert Featuring: Boatbuilding Carpentry (Round-bottom) The Harvey W. Smith Watercraft Center, located across from the main museum building, is open for viewing wooden boat construction and restoration and ship model building. Boatbuilding Skills Classes are designed for novices and experienced woodworkers. Boatbuilding Carpentry is a prerequisite for the Boatbuilding classes. This event is from 9 am-4:30 pm and is sponsored by the NC Maritime Museum in Beaufort. Aquatic Adventurers Summer Camp Young campers learn about coastal habitats and the animals that depend on them through discovery labs, animal feeding opportunities and outdoor excursions. NC Ducks Unlimited Band the Billfish Tournament This event is headquartered at Anchorage Marina, Atlantic Beach for registration and weigh-ins. Each year this event attracts amateur and professional surfers from the East Coast and various countries, including former and current East Coast, ESA and world champions. The contest is held by the Buddy Pelletier Surfing Foundation, an organization that sponsors fellowships and renders humanitarian aid to members of the East Coast surfing community. The contest offers beginning surfers the chance to get in the water with some of the best the world has to offer while raising funds to help fellow surfers.
